With plans being developed for a new stadium for AFC Bournemouth, we're taking a salivating look at what the future might have in store for our club.

We've scoured the world for what we feel are best stadia with a capacity broadly within the club's stated range - around 20,000, give or take a few. We're going to talk about what we like about them, what features we think can be incorporated into a new stadium for us - and where they could be improved.

A new entry in the top 10 will be published every few days until we've completed our countdown - and then we'll collate it all into one post for posterity.

3. BMO Stadium, Los Angeles

In 1984, the world marvelled as Bill Suitor flew around the Los Angeles Coliseum with a jet pack during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. In 2028, the Games return to LA and the the Coliseum's smaller new neighbour will be sharing the responsibility of hosting the events. BMO Stadium opened in 2018 as a purpose built football stadium and home for Los Angeles FC. With a capacity of 22,000 it is dwarfed by the Coliseum's 77,500 but it is no less impressive a venue.

The pitch is 6.7 metres below street level so the stadium is slightly recessed. At the north end of the is the first safe standing area in the MLS. A 3,252 capacity single-tier stand with a 34 degree rake, topped by a supporter bar area spanning the width of the pitch. Behind the opposite goal is an all seater, single tier stand divided by a platform with upper sections staggered which prevents the seats from being single contiguous blocks.

The East stand is a large, curved, two-tier all seater stand with a section of VIP seating around the halfway line on the top tier and boxes in between the tiers.

It is the tallest of the stands standing above the other three but perhaps unusually the biggest stand is not the home to most of the VIP and hospitality accommodation - that is the West stand which is also a two-tier stand which is segmented and has three levels of hosptality suites.

Two corners of the stadium are open and without a roof, a necessity to provide ventilation in the California weather but the rest of the stands are all covered by a lightweight canopy that helps to contain and amplify the crowd noise as well as to diffuse the sunlight.

As with other modern stadia, there is an array of different levels of facility available. There are half a dozen different lounges or clubs with a distinct feel - including the sunset deck on the top level of the West stand which even features a swimming pool..

What we like

✅ Huge single tier safe standing bank behind the home goal

✅ Supporter facilities as well as premium hospitality

✅ 22,000 capacity feels perfect and looks much bigger

What we'd change

❎ British weather means we wouldn't need to leave corners open for ventilation

❎ The south end feels small compared to the other stands
