Welcome to the rednblack museum

Feburary 2024

Thank you for visiting the museum.

When this project first started, it was conceived as a curated and organised photo gallery of AFC Bournemouth curiosities. Initial appeals for contributions brought some appreciated feedback but not enough to launch the museum with, so we've gone a different way to start with.

In looking at other clubs' online museums, we saw that these often went hand in glove with archives and encyclopedias of results, players, managers and staff. Noticing that AFC Bournemouth fans were not well catered for in either space, the decision was made to focus on providing that kind of resource first.

We still want the exhibits, the curios and the stories - and hope that the window into our history that we are creating here will inspire people to contribute and see how their own collections and information can help build this museum up into a first class resource and diversion for our community.

This is just the start, the project is massive. We don't know if it's even possible to finish it - but the aim is to create a complete record of AFC Bournemouth's history, from Gladstone Road to the Premier League.

At the time of first publication, we will have an archive of every Bournemouth (and Boscombe) men's result from the football league era starting in 1923 onwards.

The more recent seasons where such information is readily available online have details like team line-ups, goalscorers, substitutions and bookings. Older fixtures do not but it is our aim to fill these gaps over time and with the help of the community.

We are creating a directory of players - where they appear in line-ups that we have available from recent results they will have an entry at least already. These need to be fleshed out with photographs, biographies, memories and memorabilia.. as we are able to collate more data about past results, the better the museum will become.

We have deliberately qualified the archive as having 'men's' fixtures as it is again our aim to do similar with the women's team - information about their historic fixtures is very difficult to obtain so all contributions, particularly with data about the women's team prior to the club taking it in house will be greatly appreciated.
